Orville Redenbachers: Lime and Salt Popcorn

This stuff is AMAZING!! You can smell the lime while its cooking. It tastes salty and sweet with a hint of lime. I was just introduced to this by my brother-in law a couple of weeks ago and I was HOOKED. I have been looking for it every time I go grocery shopping and I FINALLY found it yesterday. You should really try it. Next time I am going to try the cracked pepper and salt popcorn because it sounds delish! Let me know what you think!

DIY monogramed plate

I found this idea on Pinterest. So a couple months ago I tried it.
Basically you find a plain plate or cup or anything that you want...you could use color too.
I found mine at the local Dollar Store
I used a black sharpie and wrote the L in the middle and the words to our first dance song in cursive around the outside
You then place it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 30-40 minutes
This sets the ink
I use my plate as a decoration but I have dusted it frequently and the ink has not budged!

My latest DIY try #rufflechristmastreeskirt

I saw this idea on pinterest:

and then I found this picture on google:

So I adapted them and created my own. I did not take pictures as I went along...I did not know at the time that I would be starting a blog. But I do have a finished product!!

My directions:
-I had one yard of five different fabrics cut. (you may end up with some extra depending on how you choose to adapt this, how long you want your skirt, how long you want your ruffles etc.)
-I then bought a plastic round 84" table cloth from Walmart..it was around $2.00
-Since this was WAY to big I decided to cut it down to 24 inches. I did this by folding the cloth in fours and measuring from the corner to 24 inches and marking the "half circle". Then cutting off the excess. (I used a tablecloth because being that this is my first christmas married and in a house of my own, I did not have an old treeskirt that I could use nor could I find one at my local Dollar Store
-I then cut the fabric (on the long end) in 5inx36in strips. I chose 5in just because I liked the way it looked and it took up more area.
-I then hot glued the strips around the tablecloth in the pattern that I chose, creating ruffles by bunching up the fabric. Now you can create a more ruffled appearance or a less ruffled appearance depending on how you bunch the fabric. It is your decision!
-continue this process until you are done

BUT...I do have a suggestion to make after I completed this..
-Try and find something other than a plastic tablecloth. This can just be another type of fabric..maybe even a sturdier tablecloth. I say this because the hot glue at times melted my plastic creating a bit of a mess.
-After Chirstmas I found blank felt tree skirts at Walmart so before I put my christmas stuff away (I leave it up untill New Years Eve) I will attach my already done skirt to the felt skirt to create a more durable skirt.

Finished product:

Feel free to comment on how you would do this different or your experience on creating one. :)

A little about ME

My name is Ashlynn. I recently got married on September 22nd. I am a full time nursing student in an accelerated BSN program. Nursing school consumes much of my life. I have two furbabies. Zeke is a boxer and Drake is a Belgian Malinois. They will both turn one in February. They are a crazy "duo" (as our vet refers to them). I will be posting often about thier crazy antics as they like to drive thier parents nuts. (and yes they are like our children,no I am not a crazy dog lady. I was born and raised in South Carolina (GO GAMECOCKS!) and I love everything southern. However my father is from New Jersey and I am very much a Yankee and Giant fan. I love trying new recipes and new crafts. I love doing DIY projects and making my home unique. I will also be posting reviews and giveaways as they come in.
